Jayco Greyhawk 29MV

Theater seating and a walk-around queen bed set the 29MV up for a couple, in what Jayco positions as its premium Ford Class C line. The generator has auto-start, and the tankless water heater, heated tanks and hydraulic leveling are standard.

What owners report

Drawn from 14 owners' accounts of the Jayco Greyhawk, mostly 2018–2026 units. It covers the whole Jayco Greyhawk line, not only this floorplan. Nobody here has camped in it; this is what people who bought one say.

Newer owners lose time to warranty waits. A 2020 owner says two warranty repairs used up the entire two-year factory warranty in waits and excuses, and a 2023 27U owner was chasing a leak four months after delivery, despite paying a $2,000 dealer fee for an inspection after delivery. One 2021 30Z owner had both right rear wheels come loose at 100 km/h in Quebec, despite a Ford check before every season.

Three owners report trouble with the Lippert auto-levelling system: a ground wire sheared off on a rough stretch of I-95, a 2023 24B lifts its front tires off the ground when levelling, and a 2018 31DS jack motor will not run from a lithium house battery. Interior fittings on 2019 units are light, with an overhead cabinet that broke while the coach sat in a driveway.

Happy 30Z owners single out the theater seating, and one owner says the coach does not notice the Jeep behind it. A 2020 owner whose front air conditioner kept tripping the energy management system on a 90-degree day fixed it with a $14 hard-start capacitor.

What owners like

  • +Two 30Z owners praise its theater seating and layout, one calling it small enough to go anywhere but big enough to live in.
  • +Owners tow a Jeep or small SUV behind theirs, and one says the coach does not even notice the Jeep and fuel economy does not change.
  • +Owners of 2017 to 2020 coaches say they love them, and a 30XP owner drives theirs nearly anywhere without towing a car.

Common complaints

  • −New-coach warranty experiences went badly for two owners: two repairs ate a 2020 owner's whole two-year warranty in waits and excuses, and a 2023 27U owner called theirs a lemon over a leak four months after delivery.
  • −Three owners report trouble with the Lippert levelling system: a sheared ground wire after a rough stretch of I-95, front tires lifted off the ground on a 2023 24B, and a jack motor that will not run from a lithium house battery on a 31DS.
  • −Interior parts on 2019 coaches are flimsy, including an overhead cabinet that broke while parked and small parts under the stove, fridge and sinks that broke easily.
