Grand Design Imagine AIM 16MLA
~$36,877
The difference that matters
Weight is where the Lance 1475 wins. It weighs 2,905 lb dry with a 315 lb hitch, against 3,813 lb and 432 for the AIM 16MLA, which can be the difference between an SUV and a pickup. The Lance also carries 1,519 lb of cargo, and both are 19.7 ft long.
The Imagine AIM is the better-equipped trailer for longer stays. It has a Murphy bed on a slide that frees floor space during the day, a four-season protection package and tanks of 37, 45 and 37 gal against the Lance's 26 each. It sleeps three to the Lance's two.
The Lance takes a different approach to its interior: no dinette, two lounge chairs and a large dry bath, with a sofa-bed slide as an option. Its walls, floor and ceiling are aluminum-framed.
