Grand Design Imagine AIM 16MLA
Smallest of the Imagine family, the AIM 16MLA folds its bed into the wall Murphy-style and uses one slide to free floor space once parked. Grand Design still offers its 4-Seasons Protection Package at this size.

What owners report
Drawn from 10 owners' accounts of the Grand Design Imagine AIM, mostly 2023–2025 units. It covers the whole Grand Design Imagine AIM line, not only this floorplan. Nobody here has camped in it; this is what people who bought one say.
Owners chose the AIM for its weight and keep mentioning the cabinetry. One 15BH owner who spent two years comparing fit and finish says the doors don't feel like cereal boxes the way some competitors' do, and reports the trailer stayed bearable without air conditioning on a 104-degree desert day. A 2023 15RB owner calls the 19-foot trailer massive inside for two people and a dog.
Towing is mostly easy. Owners pull the 15BH, 15RB and 18BH with F-150s, a Ram 1500 and a Rivian; the Rivian owner reports 0.9 to 1.0 miles per kWh at freeway speed. The catch is height and wind: an F-150 owner with a 16 says the tall box catches wind horribly, and a Jeep Grand Cherokee owner whose 15RB weighed 3,972 lb loaded gets brief coolant over-temperature warnings on long climbs.
Several buyers paid for independent inspections before delivery and say they caught real problems; one 2025 16BL buyer refused the first unit offered because its frame was rusted from road salt nobody had washed off. A 20BHA owner living in theirs during a move finds the factory battery and solar too small to boondock for long without adding more.
What owners like
- +The small floorplans tow behind half-ton trucks and even an electric pickup without strain on most roads.
- +Owners rate the cabinetry and fit and finish above similarly priced trailers they shopped, such as the Ibex and Geo Pro.
- +The interiors feel larger than the 19 to 20-foot length suggests, while still fitting tight sites and driveways.
Common complaints
- −The tall, flat-fronted body gets pushed around in crosswinds.
- −Dealer-lot units have had problems serious enough that owners recommend an independent inspection, including a frame rusted from unwashed road salt.
