The difference that matters
Close to twins: molded fiberglass, a single axle, a 3,500 lb GVWR, about 17 feet long, and priced around $34,000 for the Casita Spirit Deluxe 17 and around $35,000 for the Escape 17B. The Casita is 110 lb lighter at 2,530 lb dry; the Escape sleeps four to the Casita's three.
The Escape's tanks hold 20 gallons fresh, 26 gray and 13.2 black, and its hitch weight is a light 296 lb. The Casita bundles a wet bath with shower, a water heater, a 4.3 cu ft 12 V refrigerator and a high-lift axle package with 15-inch wheels; a 100 Ah AGM battery is standard, with lithium, solar and air conditioning offered as options.
The deciding factor is mostly who is coming along. Two or three people fit either; a family of four needs the Escape.
