What owners report
Drawn from 8 owners' accounts of the Thor ACE, mostly 2017–2023 units. It covers the whole Thor ACE line, not only this floorplan. Nobody here has camped in it; this is what people who bought one say.
A new problem on every outing sums up a 2023 29G owner's first 5,000 miles: a leaking drain hose under the sink, debris and silicone in the water lines, an entry door that would not latch, and cabinet doors whose hinges are pulling out of the walls. A handy 2019 owner can barely keep up with what breaks, a 2021 33.1 owner who loved the layout calls the Covid-era build crap and will not buy another Thor, and another family had the entire electrical system replaced at three years after a loose wire arced. One owner traded a new 30-footer in within a year.
Wind is the other theme. A former 29-foot owner says it was a sail and found a Winnebago View of the same length far easier to drive, the 2023 owner white-knuckled crosswinds and passing trucks from New York to Florida, and the 33.1 owner says a Steer Safe stabilizer made it handle wind much better. A 30-foot owner found the V10 a dog in the mountains and the single 13,500 BTU AC no match for full sun.
What owners do like is the layout, the big windshield and swivel cab seats that turn the cab into part of the living area.
What owners like
- +Owners like the floor plans, with a huge windshield and swivel cab seats that become part of the living space.
- +Some owners have gone thousands of miles without major problems, including a 2017 29.4 bought from a small family dealer.
Common complaints
- −Owners of 2019–2023 units describe a steady stream of defects, from leaks and loose hinges to a full electrical replacement.
- −It gets pushed around by crosswinds and passing trucks, and one owner added a steering stabilizer to tame it.
