Forest River Cedar Creek 383FB

Four slides, a front bath and rear living make the 383FB a full-size luxury fifth wheel on a 101-inch wide-body frame, sleeping four. Six-point hydraulic leveling, a heated front storage bay, a docking station with black-tank flush and 200 W of solar with an inverter are standard, and its GVWR calls for a heavy-duty truck.

What owners report

Drawn from 10 owners' accounts of the Forest River Cedar Creek, mostly 2018–2025 units. It covers the whole Forest River Cedar Creek line, not only this floorplan. Nobody here has camped in it; this is what people who bought one say.

Weight is the first practical lesson owners pass on. A 2025 39RKB owner says the pin weight on their 43-foot, roughly 17,000 lb fifth wheel forced a move to a dually, and a family full-timing in a 2024 3325BH calls it one-ton territory while praising its cargo capacity, half bath in the bunk room and washer/dryer prep.

Several owners describe electrical faults. A 2023 owner has twice come back to spoiled food because the inverter does not restart on its own after shore power drops, a 2021 Silverback lost its lights, vents, touchscreen and AC after a main breaker reset, and a 2018 37MBH owner replaced a failed converter and dead batteries themselves.

The worst stories involve new units and dealers. A 2024 owner's fridge died on the first trip and one tire exploded in under 3,000 miles, and a 2022 360RL owner says the trailer has spent nearly all of its first year at the dealer waiting on parts and repairs. A 2025 owner sums up the middle ground: not perfect, not bad, and worth an independent inspection even when new.

What owners like

  • +Owners live in them full time and like it, including a family in a 2024 3325BH with good cargo capacity and washer/dryer prep, a 40CCK owner in since late 2022 and a 311RL owner about a year in.
  • +Some owners have come through Colorado and other cold winters in theirs, at the cost of a lot of propane.

Common complaints

  • −Owners have lost the 12-volt side, lights and controls dead while outlets still work, after a converter failure on a 2018 and a breaker reset on a 2021, and a 2023 inverter does not restart on its own after shore power drops.
  • −Some new 2022 and 2024 units failed on the first trip or spent months at the dealer waiting on parts and repairs.
  • −The bigger models need a one-ton: a 39RKB owner's pin weight pushed them to a dually, and a family in a 3325BH calls it one-ton territory.
