Grand Design Transcend 265BHT
A rear bunkhouse sleeping eight puts the 265BHT squarely in family territory, as the core Transcend line's bunk plan for 2027. Insulated walls and an enclosed underbelly are standard. Check whether the unit on the lot has roof solar or only the prep for it.

What owners report
Drawn from 17 owners' accounts of the Grand Design Transcend, mostly 2019–2026 units. It covers the whole Grand Design Transcend line, not only this floorplan. Nobody here has camped in it; this is what people who bought one say.
A traveling construction worker has lived full time in a 2021 297QB through two northern winters and reports nothing worse than water-faucet connections that weren't tightened at the factory. Other good reports run along the same lines: a 2021 247BH four years in before its first water problem, and a new owner surprised at how little maintenance 20 nights across five trips needed.
The bad stories are severe, and they center on the dealer more than the trailer. One owner got a trailer bought new that January back after two months of warranty repairs and found the water heater pouring water within three hours. Another owner's 26BHX had trailer brakes that worked only intermittently and a door that took seven months to fix, and the owner sold it at a loss. A 2025 buyer found the roof not fully sealed.
Towing splits by truck. Tundra owners pulling a 265BHT and a 7,500 lb unit say it tows well with a weight-distribution hitch, while a Ram 1500 owner with a 25MLX feels every bump, and a 2026 27DBX owner gets sway above 60 with an F-150 near max payload. A Ranger owner reports 15 mpg towing the 151BH.
What owners like
- +Owners, a full-timer through two northern winters among them, report little beyond minor fixes such as snugging factory plumbing connections, and a 2025 buyer needed very little maintenance across 20 nights.
- +The 265BH and 265BHT get credit from families for a relatively spacious bathroom and sleeping room for a crowd.
- +Owners of the small 151-series units like how compact and light they are: one gets into tight gas stations and odd sites without trouble, another tows a 151BH with a Ranger.
- +Tundra owners report that a 265BHT and a 2021 unit loaded to about 7,500 lb tow well with a weight-distribution hitch.
Common complaints
- −When warranty work is needed, owners describe months out of service, repairs that fail again and dealers who go quiet.
- −Entry doors bind, either refusing to latch from delivery or rubbing the strike plate whenever the door side is in the sun.
- −On half-ton trucks and SUVs the 25- to 31-foot floorplans can sway above 60 mph, feel rough over bumps or run the vehicle to its payload or rear-axle limit.
