What owners report
Drawn from 7 owners' accounts of the Coachmen Freelander, mostly 2018–2025 units. It covers the whole Coachmen Freelander line, not only this floorplan. Nobody here has camped in it; this is what people who bought one say.
Winterizing is where new owners get stuck. A 2025 21QSS owner could not find the water pump at all, and a 26MB owner removed every access panel and kitchen drawer looking for the fresh tank valve before Forest River's help line told them it sits under the coach, left of the door, because the included winterizing instructions were for a different plumbing system.
Owners of the 29KB like the two-room layout, the washer-dryer hookup and the cargo capacity. One 2019 27QB spent years in a rental fleet and reached 117,000 miles; its owner blames the damage, a rear corner hit on a pole and a stolen spare, on renters rather than the coach. Older units have a following too: a 2012 owner reports nothing breaking inside except a jamming bathroom door, and a 2016 32BH owner sold after four years for more than they paid.
What owners like
- +The 29KB's two-room layout with washer-dryer hookups and high cargo capacity wins over the owners who bought it.
- +Older Chevy-chassis units, a 2012 and a 2015, hold speed on hills and stay steady on the road in wind and rain.
Common complaints
- −Plumbing components are hidden and the paperwork does not always match, so owners cannot find the water pump or fresh tank valve when winterizing.
- −Fuel economy is modest, with owners of 2012, 2015 and 2018 coaches reporting 8 to 12 mpg.
