With the lithium bank mounted behind the axles, the 25FB carries roughly 810 to 900 lb on the hitch loaded, by owners' own scales, and that is why two of them tow it with half-ton trucks that would be over on other 25-foot Airstreams. A 2024 owner towing with an F-150 calls the ride solid and stable, while noting that payload gets close and they wish the truck had a higher rear axle rating.

The 810 Ah battery and 600 W of solar get mixed reviews. One owner went a month of full-time use, mostly in a driveway, without plugging in, and a boondocker who keeps the inverter off and runs on 12 V gets 10 to 12 days even in full shade; another owner barely makes four days in full sun. On the newer 27FB, one owner reports Harbinger battery cooling fans loud enough to draw campground complaints and a pack that holds far less off grid than expected.

Cargo capacity is 768 lb on one 2024 25FB, 325 lb of it taken by water, and that owner is annoyed that Airstream raised the 2025 GVWR by 300 lb without re-rating 2024 units. A 23FB owner with 529 lb on the sticker finds it plenty, with about 200 lb to spare once packed.

Can a half-ton truck tow the Trade Wind 25FB?+

Two owners do. One weighs 810 lb on the hitch fully loaded for two people and two dogs and has plenty of margin, but says adding one or two more people would call for a three-quarter-ton; an F-150 owner with an 1,808 lb payload says it tows well with a Blue Ox Sway Pro but gets close on payload with a family of four.
