The difference that matters

Pop-up truck campers for different trucks. The Palomino Backpack SS-550 fits half-ton pickups with beds from 5.5 to 8 feet and weighs 1,611 lb dry. The Four Wheel Campers Hawk is built for full-size trucks with beds from 6 feet to 6 feet 7 inches and weighs 1,200 lb, about 411 lb less, on a welded aluminum frame with aluminum siding and a one-piece aluminum roof.

The SS-550 comes with an electric roof lift, 200 W of solar, a 100Ah lithium battery, a 20,000 BTU furnace and a 3.3 cu ft 12 V refrigerator, and sleeps three. The Hawk sleeps two and is sold either as a base shell or a full camper, with furnace, water heater, solar and lithium on the option list; it pops up to 6 feet 6 inches inside and holds 20 gallons of fresh water against 15. Half-ton owners have the clearer fit in the Palomino.
