Palomino Backpack SS-550 vs Four Wheel Campers Fleet
The difference that matters
Truck size picks between these pop-up campers. The Fleet is built for mid-size pickups with 6 to 6.6 ft beds and weighs about 1,050 lb, light enough for the smaller trucks. The SS-550 fits half-ton trucks with 5.5 to 8 ft beds and weighs 1,611 lb.
The Palomino carries more as standard: an electric roof lift with remote, a 20,000 BTU furnace, 200 W of solar, a 100 Ah lithium battery and a 3.3 cu ft 12V fridge, sleeping three. The Fleet is sold either as a base shell or a full camper with front-dinette or roll-over-couch layouts, with furnace, water heater, solar and lithium available as options. It sleeps two.
Neither has gray or black tanks. The Fleet carries 20 gal of fresh water to the Palomino's 15, and its pop-up roof gives 6 ft 4 in of standing room.
