The difference that matters

Two rear-kitchen trailers of almost exactly 29 ft, aimed at different kinds of trips. The Passport SL 2450RK weighs 6,180 lb dry with a 700 lb hitch and 1,420 lb of cargo capacity. The Timber Ridge 24RKS weighs 6,775 lb with an 800 lb hitch but carries 3,220 lb of cargo on a 9,995 lb GVWR.

The Timber Ridge is built for boondocking in the mountains. It comes with 400 W of solar, a fully enclosed heated underbelly with a four-season rating, 5,200 lb axles on load range E tires and a 35K BTU furnace. Its tanks hold 80 gal fresh and 80 gray across two tanks, against the Passport's 54 and 76.

The Passport leans toward campground comfort, with an outdoor kitchen with a griddle and mini fridge, a fireplace, a 66 by 80 in king bed and an extended-season thermal package. It sleeps six.

Keystone Passport SL 2450RK: Campground outdoor cooks, couples or small families, who want a king bed on a lighter trailer.
Outdoors RV Timber Ridge 24RKS: High-altitude dry campers, out for days as a couple, who need solar, big tanks and real cargo capacity.
